As the clock ticks off the final hours to the Primus Guma Guma SuperStar Season Two (PGGSS 2), GLM brings you everything about the two :
Jay Polly was born in 1988 to Pierre Nsabimana and Marianne Rukarubayiza. The Hip-hop singer found inspiration for singing from his mother who was a choir leader in an ADEPR church in Gakingiro.
At 15, Jay Polly went secular and recorded his first track, “Nakupenda” at BZB’s TFP studio.
Later he was joined by his childhood friend, Green P, and together they went ahead to form the group G5 crew, with Perry G in 2004. That year, the trio released two songs; “Ngwino” and “Hip-Hop game”.
When producer Lick Lick started his F2K studio, the G5 crew had already disbanded and it was now called Tuff Gangs, the current home for the likes of P Fla, Fireman, Bull Dogg, Green P and Jay Polly.
At F2K, the crew released several songs, including, “Kwicuma”, “Sigaho”, “Umenyeko”, “Money” and “Target ku mutwe.”
Though he appears in most songs with his Tuff Gangs crew, Jay Polly and the rest of the members often do solo recordings and performances.
In 2009, with the help of Lick Lick, Jay Polly released, “Ibyo Ubona” and later followed it up with “Ndacyariho Ndahumeka”.
Jay Polly went to Kinuga Primary school and did his secondary education at E.SK. Kicukiro and majored in Art.
In 2009, Jay Polly went to Nyundo Art School, Rubavu where he completed courses in “painting and decoration” and “sculpture and ceramics”.
